The Systems Engineering department is tasked with developing custom solutions for our clients ranging from data ingress from client internal systems to data egress to retail partners, direct to consumer websites, and much more. We work in the fast-paced digital e-commerce space, where requirements change daily, new capabilities launch constantly, and products are being purchased and delivered to consumers faster than ever.

Projects will be both short and long-term, ranging from smaller brand manufacturers to some of the largest consumer goods companies in the world. The Systems Engineering department is responsible for assessing business opportunities, developing solutions, setting priorities, and working toward those goals while managing multiple diverse projects. Projects will often include development work on custom connections between upstream sources like Product Information Management system (PIM) (Salsify, inRiver, Stibo, Riversand), iPaaS solutions like MuleSoft and Boomi, ERPs like SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and Netsuite, and DAMs like Bynder, Widen, and Aprimo, as well as downstream applications like Shopify, BigCommerce, Drupal, and Magento, to name just a few. Other projects will include working on custom scripts and systems for internal Gournay Consulting use, such as utilizing OCR and ML platforms. In addition to custom development projects, the Systems Engineering team works closely with the Implementation team on new PIM, DAM, & GDSN implementations, participating in client calls, data modeling, and activating system use through data analysis, channel mapping, and troubleshooting.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Work in collaboration with the Staff/Principal Engineer(s) and key stakeholders to determine business requirements and end goals, troubleshoot potential blockers and develop custom solutions. Maintain and deliver project plans and proactively and professionally communicate status to stakeholders. 
  • Develop and maintain Salsify knowledge and provide support on Salify and GDSN implementation work. Gain Salsify certifications, work under the direction of the Implementation Director and Client Leads to map channels, maintain product data, and complement and maintain GDSN implementations.
  • Design and develop custom solutions for various technical systems and environments. Work in collaboration with the Director of Systems Innovation to provide technical solutions for our internal team and client needs, utilizing custom scripts, developing formulas for Salsify, and/or utilizing Excel acumen. Maintain, update, and troubleshoot internal systems/connectors as required on internal technology systems for all project work.
  • Maintain code quality, organization, and automatization and ensure quality development and functionality of products. With the guidance of the Director of Systems Innovation, utilize technologies such as NodeJS, NextJS, Firebase, JavaScript to create innovative data paths and intuitive user experiences. Maintain solid version control utilizing the Gournay Consulting GitHub account.
  • Support internal innovation & development project work objectives by performing internal and integrated testing to identify potential performance and usability enhancements.
  • Learn (and drive new) industry best practices and identify how solutions can be leveraged to implement these practices for client success.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, project meetings and training sessions.

What We're Looking For:

  • Recent or upcoming Bachelor’s Degree with a preferred concentration major in Computer Science, Programming, Software/Electrical/Computer engineering
  • A minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Programming experience, whether indirect (such as courses in programming, hobby programming), or direct (internship, co-op or professional experience)
  • Understanding of JavaScript and NextJS are required. Experience and deep understanding of HTML and CSS is recommended.
  • Experience with version control software such as GitHub for maintaining code integrity and tracking changes and bugs, or an understanding of how this process works
  • Highly detailed-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy
  • Team player who wants to work with others to collaborate to solve problems
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively both written and verbally
